The police have booked a Thane auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly harassing a 39-year-old woman travelling in his vehicle, police said on Sunday. Per a PTI report, the Thane auto-rickshaw driver was driving the woman to her residence in Waldhuni from Kalyan railway station on June 13.

Reportedly, while she was paying the fare, the Thane auto-rickshaw driver allegedly caught hold of her hand, abused and threatened her.

An official from the MFC police station told PTI that the woman later filed a complaint against the Thane auto-rickshaw driver and based on it an FIR was registered on Friday under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, in another unrelated incident from Thane district, 15 persons were booked for allegedly halting work on a government project.  According to the police, fifteen people have been charged with trespassing and halting government-sponsored goods corridor project work in Thane district.

According to a representative from the Narpoli police station, the event happened in Bhiwandi on June 13 during the installation of pillars for a flyover connecting Owli village road and the freight corridor with a railway crossing.

Villagers who had no right to the land broke into the government building, organised a shady group, blocked a piece of earth-excavating equipment and put a halt to the activity. They also made threats against the employees who were there, stated a PTI report.

Following a complaint by a project representative, a case was registered on Friday against 15 individuals, including four women. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty), 341 (wrongful restraint), 141, 143, 149 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation), the report added.

In another incidence, Maharashtra police detained two individuals from Uttar Pradesh who were wanted for theft, drug selling, attempted murder, and other crimes, an official said on Sunday. On Friday, a team from the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) police nabbed Ashish Kumar alias Badhoria Rajkumar Bhatu (38) and Amit Kumar Pradeep Kumar (36) in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, according to senior inspector Pramod Badakh.

The duo was charged with a variety of crimes, including chain theft, drug dealing, attempted murder, rape, and violations of the Arms Act throughout India.
