The Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma actress won the Dadasaheb Phalke Style icon award

Dadasaheb Phalke Icon Awards Films 2021 were held in Mumbai recently and TV celebs such as Sunayana Fozdar, Harshad Chopda, Sharad Malhotra, Rohitashv Gour, Pranali Rathod and others made it to the winners list. The Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma…actress won the style icon award.
Anupamaa won Best Hindi serial while leads Rupali Ganguly and Sudhanshu Pandey won best actress and actor respectively, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai won best longest running iconic serial. Harshad Chopda won iconic face male while Pranali Rathod won iconic face female.

Sunayana spoke to mid-day.com after her win
What was your reaction after winning the style icon award?
I was ecstatic when my name was announced for the style icon award and to be associated with such an award, carries a lot of prestige and responsibilities. With adulation comes lot of responsibility. It adds certain pressures on you to keep maintaining that and give people what they expect out of you. I must have done something right for me to get the award and yes lots of gratitude, lots of happiness. I’ve been a very simple girl and a geek in school. I think my confidence and self-belief has got me here and that's what I keep telling everyone. No matter where you come from, who you are, self-belief will always take you where you want to be. I was super excited and you usually only see others getting awards like these but to get Dadasaheb Phalke award has lot of respect associated with name itself so it couldn't get better than this.
Did you expect that you will be winning amongst the other contemporaries?
We don't work for awards but eventually when you get it we can call it a bonus. Nowadays competition is tough, there are so many others who are doing fabulously well and are so experimental with their looks. Like I said I must have done something right .
What do you love about your show Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chasma?
I am and I will always be grateful and happy to be in a show like this one, it is legendary. The entire team is so fabulous and I have learnt a lot of things from them. To be around for so long and still win people's heart and try to bring smile on people's faces is amazing. I want to be an entertainer till the last day.
