In 2011, the wonderful duo Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan became proud parents to their little one, Aaradhya Bachchan. But amidst the happiness and warm wishes, there was something quite unpleasant that grabbed the spotlight – the harsh judgment around Aishwarya's post-pregnancy weight gain. It's crazy how the world can sometimes focus on all the wrong things, right? Well, Aishwarya didn't let the negativity bring her down. She's actually spoken up about how some good came out of all that trolling.

During a candid conversation with British journalist David Frost in 2015, Aishwarya discussed the hurtful practice of body-shaming. She shared her perspective, saying, "It was natural in my case; that was the natural turn that my body took in terms of whether I gained weight or I had water retention or whatever else that goes with the space. I was comfortable, and that’s why I have been who I have been. I stepped out in public when I could take time out from my baby, and if I did think it was a big deal, I would have been in hiding or would have done something about it.”

Aishwarya wasn't just all about body positivity; she also touched on how science has opened doors to quick fixes these days. But she made it clear that it wasn't her thing.

Reflecting on the challenging period, she expressed, "I wasn't unsettled by it. If others were bothered, I guess it might have been quite a spectacle for them, because I was focused on embracing genuine moments with my baby." Her steadfastness in the face of public opinion came from living a genuine, unscripted life, fully immersed in motherhood.

Interestingly, the ordeal also brought forth something unexpectedly positive. She shared, "I wasn’t disturbed by it. If people were, well, I guess I hope they enjoyed the drama because I was busy leading a very real life with my baby. I didn’t realise, but I think the most positive thing that came out of it for me was to have so many women come to me and say, ‘Thank you, you’ve actually gone and given so much confidence to so many of us who always believed that. I wasn’t on some mission to prove a point in this way or that. I was just being real."

As we switch gears to her professional sphere, Aishwarya's last appearance was in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'.
