MS Dhoni and Nayanthara

Given that cricket and movies are akin to religion in our country, it is not surprising that the two often meet. Buzz is that former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is foraying into film production with a Tamil project. Apparently, his maiden project will star Nayanthara, who makes her Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in director Atlee’s yet-untitled film. Reports are rife that the cricket icon-turned-producer has roped in Sanjay, one of the closest associates from superstar Rajinikanth for the project. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Dhoni’s production plans are in the news. mid-day had reported that he had acquired the rights to a then unpublished mythological sci-fi novel by a debutant author for a web series (MS Dhoni is charting new innings in the entertainment industry, Sept. 30, 2020).

John Abraham wrote a letter to the head honcho of BookMyShow, appealing him to cease all ticket sales of circuses with animal acts. The Attack actor and former PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) India Person of The Year, wrote, “When animals are used as entertainment props, these sentient beings are deprived of the lives they were meant to live. They often endure needless pain and suffering.” John concluded, saying, “I hope you will not side with cruelty and will do the right thing by implementing a policy to not promote, sell, or permit the sale of tickets for circuses that use animals.”
