Pakistan remarks on “Hindutva fascism” at UNGA, India’s Ambassador responds

Pakistan remarks on “Hindutva fascism” at UNGA, India’s Ambassador responds

India’s Ambassador to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj gave a befitting reply to her Pakistani counterpart in UNGA, without taking the country’s name. During a discussion, while delivering his speech, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram said, “Unless Hindutva fascism is opposed, unless the sense of impunity of the BJP, RSS is ended, unless the Indian Muslims are protected against genocide, and unless the Kashmir dispute is peacefully solved, wider violence and conflict in South Asia is a real and present danger.” Without taking country’s name, Ruchira said, “In this assembly, as we endeavour to cultivate the culture of peace amid these challenging times, our focus remains steadfast on constructive dialogue. We thus choose to set aside remarks from a certain delegation which not only lack decorum, but also detract from our collective efforts due to their destructive and punishious nature. We would strongly encourage that delegation to align with the central principles of respect and diplomacy, that must always guide our discussions. Or is that too much to ask of a country that harbours the most dubious track record on all aspects in itself.”

In a retaliatory move, Iran struck hundreds of UAVs, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles on Israeli soil. Israeli Envoy to UN Gilad Erdan demanded Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGP) to be designated as a “Terrorist Organisation”. Israel said that Iran poses a direct threat to international peace and violated the UN Charter. Kashmir issue: “Gussa hona hai to Nehru ji par ho…”Amit Shah takes aim

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on December 06 narrated the first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru’s letter to United Nations over the Kashmir issue. The context of the letter is rooted in the aftermath of the Partition of British India in 1947, which led to the creation of India and Pakistan as independent nations. The princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, which had a majority Muslim population but a Hindu ruler, became a point of contention between the two newly formed countries. Over the years, the Kashmir issue has remained a longstanding and contentious matter between India and Pakistan, with both countries holding different perspectives on the region's status.

From Kashmir issue to harboring terrorism; India at UNGA on Pakistan’s agendas

India has once again hit out at Pakistan after the country's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar predictably raised the Kashmir bogey in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on September 24. During her address, the Indian representative said, “Pakistan has become a habitual offender when it comes to misusing this August forum to peddle baseless and malicious propaganda against India... Pakistan does so to deflect the international community's attention away from its own abysmal record on human rights. We reiterate that the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of India. Matters pertaining to the UTs of J&K and Ladakh are purely internal to India. Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on our domestic matters. As a country with one of the world's worst human rights records, Pakistan would do well to put its own house in order before venturing to point a finger at the world's largest democracy. A glaring example of the systemic violence against minorities in Pakistan was the large-scale brutality perpetrated against the minority Christian community in Jaranwala in Pakistan's Faisalabad district in August 2023, where a total of 19 churches were gutted and 89 Christian houses were burnt down."
