Bihar's Kishanganj police on Sunday arrested four persons in connection with the gan-grape of a 30-year-old woman, reported news agency IANS.


Gangrape in Kishanganj: The accused identified


The accused, identified as Sher Singh (55), Aakash Singh (27), Brijlal Singh (30) and Shayamu Singh (25), allegedly kidnapped the victim on Saturday from her house located at Halim Chowk under Kishanganj police station area and took her in a Bolero camper van. Later, they brutalised her at knifepoint in a maize field, reported IANS.

Gangrape in Kishanganj: Accused are natives of Haridwar

"We received a complaint of gang-rape. As the matter was very sensitive, we immediately constituted a team to nab the accused. The victim provided us the description of the accused and our team gathered the input about them. They were traced at Mahalgaon village in Araria district. We immediately conducted a raid there and arrested them," said Sagar Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kishanganj, reported IANS.

"We have conducted the medical examination of the victim in the Sadar hospital which confirmed rape. Accordingly, we have registered an FIR under relevant sections of IPC 363, 366, 376D, 506, and 34 in women police station on Saturday evening," Kumar said, reported IANS.

"The accused are natives of Haridwar, Uttarakhand and they live like nomads. They had kidnapped the victim in their camper van. We have also seized the vehicle," the SP added.

Gangrape in Kishanganj: Other incidents

In another case, a 11-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped by two boys in Madhya Pradesh's Alirajpur district, police said on Sunday, reported PTI.

The incident occurred at a village under the Jobat police station limits on Friday, an official said.

The girl was returning home from a wedding with two friends, and she stopped to attend nature's call in a field, Jobat's sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Neeraj Namdeo said, reported PTI.

Two boys, in the age group of 14 to 18 years, raped the girl in the field while her friends fled the scene, he said.

The girl's aunt, who lived in the area, took her to Jobat Hospital, after which a police complaint was lodged, he said.

A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the two boys and the person who helped them flee the scene, he said, reported PTI.

The trio were detained and sent to a juvenile home, he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress's state unit chief, Jitu Patwari, reached Jobat to meet the family members of the victim, reported PTI.

Talking to reporters after visiting the village, Patwari alleged, "The accused had the political patronage of a minister, and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav should ask for his resignation."

Talking to PTI over the phone, the minister said the authorities in Alirajpur were taking strict action against the accused as per the law.
