A court here on Thursday remanded city-based builder Vijay Machindar in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate till January 12 in an alleged Rs 700 crore money laundering case. Accused of cheating several flat buyers, he was arrested by the probe agency on Wednesday under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Hirul Rehul Sheikh (25) was part of a team of workers employed for demolishing an old and dilapidated building owned by Rohit Koli (35), resident of Uran area, said an official of Mora-Sagari police station.

A 37-year-old resident of Navi Mumbai has been duped of nearly Rs 19 lakh in a cryptocurrency fraud, police said on Thursday. The victim, who registered a complaint with the Navi Mumbai Cyber Police on Wednesday, fell prey to an elaborate cryptocurrency scam orchestrated by three alleged fraudsters last month, they said.
