The sessions court in Mumbai on Thursday reportedly convicted Parvez Tak for the 2011 murder of his step-daughter and actor Laila Khan, her mother and Laila Khan's four siblings, reported the PTI.

Parvez Tak was found guilty of murder and destruction of evidence among other offences under the Indian Penal Code in the Laila Khan murder case, as per the PTI.

The sessions court will hear arguments on the quantum of sentence on May 14.

Parvez Tak was the third husband of Selina, Laila's mother.

The actor, her mother and her four siblings were killed at their bungalow at Igatpuri in Nashik district of Maharashtra in February 2011.

The prosecution's case was that Parvez Tak first killed Selina after an argument over her properties, and then killed Laila Khan and her four siblings.

The killings came to light a few months later when Parvez Tak was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police.

The decomposed bodies of the victims were recovered from the bungalow later.

The prosecution examined 40 witnesses against Parvez Tak, according to the PTI.

Two get 10 years in prison for raping woman in Maharashtra's Raigad

Meanwhile, a court in Maharashtra's Raigad district has reportedly sentenced two men to 10 years in prison after convicting them for raping a woman nearly four years ago, according to the PTI.

In his order on Wednesday, Principal District Sessions Judge A S Rajandekar also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on convicts Suresh Lahanu Naik and Vishal Krishna Mhatre.

As per the prosecution, Naik and Mhatre targeted the woman on December 19, 2020, in Alibaug taluka when she was going to her daughter's home on a hilly track. The two forced her to consume liquor and took turns to rape her, the PTI reported on Thursday.

When relatives of the woman tried to intervene, the two men attacked them with stones, public prosecutor Smita Dhumal Patil told the court.

After hearing both sides, the court held Naik and Mhatrea guilty and sentenced them to 10 years in jail.

Altogether, 15 witnesses testified in the court during the trial.
