The police in Maharashtra's Thane district on Sunday registered a case against a 24-year-old man for allegedly beating his neighbour to death, an official said.

Thane crime: Incident took place in Dombivili

Tahiadalai Insanalai Ansari allegedly attacked Joharali Pyare Ansari (32) at Usarghar in Dombivli area which led to the latter's death, he said.

Citing the first information report (FIR), the official said that Joharali suspected that his wife had an affair with the accused and the couple often fought over this.

Thane crime: Complaint filed

On Saturday night, Joharali came home drunk and assaulted his wife. Hearing her screams, Tahiadalai rushed to her house and thrashed Joharali with a wooden roll.

Joharali was taken to a hospital and was sent back after treatment. But he died in sleep, prompting his wife to lodge a police complaint against Tahiadalai, said station house officer of Manpada police station in Dombivali.

Tahiadalai has been booked for murder, he added.

Thane crime: Other incident

In another case, the police in Maharashtra's Thane district have launched a probe after a 30-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run outside a bar on Sunday, an official said, reported news agency PTI.

Prashant Suresh Bhoir and two more persons had gone to the bar at Rajnoli village along the Mumbai-Nashik highway on Saturday night. The trio came out after the bar closed, reported PTI.

Citing the FIR, the police said the two men headed home in their respective cars but soon realised Bhoir was not there in either of the vehicles. They rushed back to the bar only to find Bhoir severely injured outside the premises, reported PTI.

Bhoir was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

A probe is on to track down the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, the official from Kongaon police station said. Bhoir was apparently a close aide of a local politician.
