Raigad police on Friday asked Edelweiss officials, who are accused of abetting the suicide of art director Nitin Desai, to return on Monday with much detailed documents of the deceased’s loans.

The investigators at Khalapur police station questioned Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company MD Phanindranath Kakarla and three other officials for nine hours.
“The officials provided documents, based on which they were questioned. However, we felt scrutiny of more loan documents was necessary. Hence we have summoned them for a third time, on August 14,” said Somnath Gharge, superintendent of police, Raigad.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court refused to grant three of the accused, including Edelweiss Group CEO Rashesh Shah, urgent interim protection from any coercive action. They had also sought quashing of the FIR.

“Wait for a week; next week we will consider,” said the court and posted the matter for August 18.

The HC has also issued notice to Desai’s wife, who is the complainant in the case.
