Flying operations over Shivaji Park and nearby areas in Mumbai have been forbidden for the Maharashtra Day statehood festivities on May 1, according to a police officer. The yearly event features a ceremonial march attended by officials and thousands of civilians, thus security is critical, the PTI report added.
According to the report, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) prohibits flying operations in the jurisdictions of Mahim, Shivaji Park, Dadar, and Worli police stations till May 1.

The prohibition seeks to prevent potential threats from terrorists or anti-social individuals who may utilise the airspace during the celebrations, endangering public safety and property, the news agency report stated.
Given the prominence of the event and the enormous number of attendees planned, strict security measures are required to keep the peace and prevent any unpleasant incidents.
A prohibitory order banning flying activities has been issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and will remain in force in the jurisdiction of Mahim, Shivaji Park, Dadar and Worli police stations all through the day on May 1," the official told news agency PTI.
He, quoting the order, further said, "During the ceremonial parade and public programme, there is a possibility that terrorists or anti-social elements may try to use the airspace for breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquillity. There may be a grave danger to human life, safety and damage to public property (due to this)."
The order added, "Looking at the importance of the celebrations and the number of people who will attend, it is imperative that all security checks are put in place to prevent unwanted activities."
