Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has hit out at rival Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray for disparaging remarks about his father and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, saying it reflects the ex-minister's upbringing, reported the PTI.

Aaditya Thackeray is a bitter critic of CM Eknath Shinde, whose revolt in 2022 had led to the toppling of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state and split the original Shiv Sena, then headed by his father Uddhav Thackeray, as per the PTI.

Referring to Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Aaditya Thackeray had recently called him a 'shameless and despicable' person.

"He (Aaditya Thackeray) has been brought up with these values, one who only curses, and badmouths (opponents). We have been taught to talk good. People will teach those who have been taught to talk ill," Shrikant Shinde told reporters in Maharashtra's Kalyan on Thursday, the news agency reported on Friday.

Shrikant Shinde is contesting from the Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency for the third time.

"The act of muddying the atmosphere in Maharashtra, cursing and badmouthing, and doing politics by stooping so low stems out of frustration," he added.

Lok Sabha elections are a fight between dictatorship and democracy: Uddhav Thackeray

The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said the Lok Sabha elections 2024 are a fight between dictatorship and democracy, reported the PTI.

Addressing a campaign rally in Parbhani city of Maharashtra for Shiv Sena (UBT) nominee and sitting MP Sanjay Jadhav, Uddhav Thackeray targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on a host of issues including dynastic politics, as per the PTI.

"This election in Parbhani is not local. This is a fight between dictatorship and democracy," he said.

Sanjay Jadhav is pitted against Mahadev Jankar of Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, who is the joint candidate of the Mahayuti alliance of the Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and Panjabrao Dakh of the Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) from Parbhani Lok Sabha constituency.

Uddhav Thackeray alleged that ministers in the Maharashtra cabinet are disrespecting women by using foul language on television channels, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah keep mum, according to the PTI.
