Till 5 pm, 55.51 per cent turnout in Raigad; Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg registered 55.63 per cent

In the third phase of election on May 7, out of the eleven states Maharashtra recorded the lowest voting percentage till 5 pm. The final figures are expected to change as voting continued in some polling stations, even after 6 pm. The low voter turnout has been despite the district administration's all-out efforts to woo the voters.

“We are anticipating an increase in the overall voting percentage in the state and it may cross the 60 per cent mark. There are people who were in the queue, even after 6 pm, waiting for their turn, and once we get all the data, we will be able to release the final percentage either late at night or tomorrow,” said an official from the state election commission.
Raigad Parliamentary Constituency
Meanwhile at Raigad parliamentary constituency, the voting percentage was recorded at 55.51 per cent till 5 pm, as compared to 61 per cent in 2019.
Registered voters
The Raigad Parliamentary Constituency includes Pen, Alibaug, Shrivardhan, Mahad, Dhapoli and Guhagar Assembly constituencies. It has a total 16,68,372 voters comprising 8,20,605 males, 8,47,763 females and four transgenders. There are 17,149 first time voters including 9,433 males and 7,716 females. The total number of people with disabilities are 8,909 including 5,647 males and 3,262 females. The constituency has 2,185 polling stations.
Turnout till 5 pm
As per data till 5 pm on Tuesday, 9,26,190 voters including 4,58,629 males and 4,67,561 females, had cast their votes in the constituency.

At Raigad parliamentary constituency, the overall voting percentage was recorded at 55.63 per cent till 5 pm, as compared to the voting percentage of 61.99 per cent in 2019.
Registered voters
Meanwhile, the Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg Parliamentary Constituency 46, comprising 265-Chiplun, 266-Ratnagiri, 267-Rajapur, 268-Kankavli, 269-Kudal and 270-Sawantwadi Assembly constituencies. The constituency has 14,51,630 registered voters including 7,14,945 males, and 7,36,673 females and 12 transgenders, thereby making it the constituency with the highest female voters. Besides, the constituency has 11,938 voters who are persons with disabilities (PWD) including 7,027 males and 4,911 females. The first time voters who are in the age of 18-19 years are 16,880 and about 26,185 voters are above the age of 85 years.
Turnout till 5 pm
As per data till 5 pm on Tuesday, a total of 8,07,562 people, which include 4,08,745 males and 3,98,816 females, voted.

“Till 5 pm, the voting percentage recorded in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg parliamentary constituency was 55.63 per cent, as compared to 61.99 per cent in 2019. The district administration was confident of crossing the 75 per cent mark, but we are confident that we may be able to cross 60 per cent, once the final tally is made,” said a district administration official.
