Sonali Bendre is one of the most loved actresses in the industry. Throughout her career, she has delivered some of the most beloved films including 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' and 'Sarfarosh'. But things were different during her time when Sonali was leading the industry.

Speaking with News18, Sonali shared that nowadays, actresses are asked if there are any rumours about them that should circulate or not. The actress shed light on how now consent is taken from celebrities to spread any link-up rumours, and then she shed light on what used to happen earlier.

Sonali said, “Gossips and newsmakers jumping to conclusions – be it about who you’re seeing or the affairs you’re having or even the fights you’re having with your co-stars – come under the gamut of ‘where did that come from?’ And most of the time, such things that were written about me weren’t true at all. These days, actors are at least asked if they would want link-up rumors with their co-stars to be floated around."

"During my time, we weren’t even asked, and those gossips would just be out there to promote the film, and the actors had no choice. There was a motive to link the lead pair up just to be in the news. Itne shiddat ke saath yeh karte the ki (They used to do it so diligently) I think they (such gimmicks) may have worked. But I found these things to be really strange,” she further added.

Sonali Bendre is also an outsider, and it is a debate that has become mainstream in recent years. Sharing her two cents on the insider-outsider debate in the industry, Bendre said, “I remember most of my career, I was not enjoying what I was doing. When I was shooting 'Naraaz,' I did not even know ‘5,6,7,8’ was the cue. Everyone started to dance while I was still waiting for the director to call ‘action.’ I was so embarrassed. I felt like an imposter.”

On the work front, Sonali Bendre is currently gearing up for the second season of 'The Broken News 2'. The show also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat.
