The smashing success of Gadar 2: The Katha Continues (2023) put Sunny Deol back in the game, and there has been no dearth of offers since—be it Aamir Khan’s production Lahore 1947, or Border 2 with JP Dutta. On Thursday, Deol announced his next with director Gopichand Malineni, the working title of which is SDGM, named after the duo’s initials. Saiyami Kher, last seen in Ghoomer (2023), has been roped in as the leading lady.

Being part of the action fare is doubly joyful for Kher. It not only marks her first collaboration with the Telugu director, best known for Veera Simha Reddy (2023), but also realises her wish of sharing screen space with Deol. “Working with Sunny Deol, an icon of Indian cinema, is an honour and a dream come true. After Ghoomer, this opportunity is a significant milestone in my career. I’ve waited to be a part of a [mainstream] film,” she shares. The team, including actor Regina Cassandra, will kick off the shoot in Hyderabad tomorrow.
