Actor Mithun Chakraborty is currently admitted to a hospital in Kolkata and a video of him meeting and talking to West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar has been doing rounds on social media. ANI shared the clip on X.


The video sees Mithun sitting on his bed as the doctor tells him, "Ab theek hai, saline chal raha hai, paani aap adequate peerahe hai. Bas peete rahiye (Now it's ok, drip is continuing, you're drinking adequate water, keep drinking..." Mithun too, said something as he pointed at his feet.


As people gathered around him to send their best wishes to the actor, the caption of the posted video read, "West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar met veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty at a private hospital in Kolkata." 


A clip also saw former cricketer Sourav Ganguly arriving at the hospital to meet Mithun Da.

For the unversed, the actor was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata on Saturday morning. The hospital’s official statement regarding Mithun Chakraborty's health stated that he was diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) of the brain. The statement also cited that the actor was brought to the hospital due to complaints of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. 

The official statement read, "Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors including a neuro-physician, cardiologist and a gastroenterologist."

Meanwhile, Mithun Chakraborty recently received the prestigious Padma Bhsuhan in January 2024. He has a rich career spanning five decades in the film industry. Having made his acting debut in Mrinal Sen's Mrigaya, Mithun is well known for his roles in films like 'Disco Dancer', 'Amar Deep', 'Dushman', 'Agneepath'. He established himself as a dancing star as well after the success of his role as Jimmy in the film 'Disco Dancer'. Mithun was a well-known star in Russia as well. 

In a video message last month, the 73-year-old actor thanked and appreciated the honour of receiving the Padma Bhushan, "After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour... It is a feeling I can't express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love."

Till date, actor Mithun Chakraborty has won four National Awards, three of them as Best Actor -- Mrigayaa (1976), Agneepath (1990) and the Bengali film Tahader Katha (1992). Mithun Chakraborty also won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1998 film 'Swami Vivekananda'.
