Unlike earlier seasons, the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team started their preparations well ahead of time — in June. They had a camp in Alur near Bangalore, where the batsmen got an opportunity to face India pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna, who were at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

“Our young players' approach was very positive and they showed good temperament while facing the likes of Bumrah. They were pretty comfortable while playing against him, so that is a good sign of us having quality batsmen,” head coach Omkar Salvi revealed.

“For the first time we had a residential camp. Our secretary Ajinkya Naik, MCA president sir [Amol Kale] and chairman of the selection committee [Raju Kulkarni] and all selectors were involved in the planning and we worked in one direction,” added Salvi.
