Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash in the Northwest of Iran, reported Press TV. Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, along with several other officials also lost their lives. East Azarbaijan Guv Malek Rahmati, East Azarbaijan Imam Md Ali Ale-Hashem were also found dead. As the world mourns the demise of Raisi, a US’ Florida Senator made shocking remarks regarding Iranian President. Calling Iran’s Prez a ‘murderous dictator’, Rick Scott, said the world will be a safer and better place if Raisi is found dead. Later, the Florida Senator said, “Ebrahim Raisi was not loved or respected & he will be missed by no one”. Notably, the crash site of the helicopter carrying President Raisi was found in the forested mountains on May 20. Drone footage shared by the Iranian state news agency IRNA showed the wreckage of President Raisi’s chopper. As per the Iranian Red Crescent, the entire cabin of the helicopter was significantly damaged and burned.

In a major mishap, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died as his chopper crashed near Azerbaijan border on May 19. As per the latest update, there has been no clue of any living person in President Raisi’s search, reported Press TV. Meanwhile, #mossad started trending on the microblogging platform ‘X’ after the reports of a helicopter crash. Netizens speculated that the Iranian Institute for Intelligence, Special Operations ‘Mossad’ behind the mishap. Soon after Iranian President Raeisi’s chopper crash, one of the netizens said, “It’s never an accident”. Notably, President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to open a dam on Iran’s border with Azerbaijan when his helicopter crashed. Ebrahim Raisi had been in Azerbaijan early on May 19 to inaugurate a dam with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. Raisi's death was confirmed in a statement by VP Mohsen Mansouri and on state television, Reuters reported. Recently, Iran rained a deluge of drones and missiles on Israel deepening conflict between the two countries. Iran’s had launched attack in response to a suspected Israeli strike that killed top Iranian officials in Syria.

In a tragic incident, Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian have been killed in a helicopter crash in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province. Bids to disrupt peace in Jammu & Kashmir continue amid the ongoing Lok Sabha Polls 2024. Over 5 terror attacks, including IAF convoy attack, have taken place in UT since April, 4 out of which turned out to be fatal. In yet another attack, a former BJP Sarpanch was killed in a targeted attack by terrorists in Shopian days ahead of polling. Meanwhile, a separate firing incident broke out in Anantnag’s Pahalgam that injured a tourist couple from Jaipur. Taking to ‘X’ JKNC chief Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah condemned the attacks. Farooq Abdullah demanded an investigation and also raised questions about the identity of the killer. He also called for international pressure to be created on Pakistan for being epicentre of terrorism. The incident sparked political row when JKPDP chief Mehbooba Mufti raised questions on timing of attacks targeting the GoI. Taxing to ‘X’, she said “timing of these attacks given that South election was delayed without any reason is a cause of concern”. Meanwhile, Former J&K Dy CM and BJP leader Kavinder Gupta on May 19 launched an indirect attack on JKNC, JKPDP. Expressing grief, he said “parties that want Article 370 back are somewhere responsible for such attacks”. Meanwhile, the areas have been cordoned off and search operations have been launched to hunt down hiding terrorists. Parts of Shopian, which falls under the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha constituency, will vote on May 20 in the fifth phase.
