Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Mumbai’s Bandra saw a huge rally supporting INDIA Alliance. Hundreds of AAP, Congress and Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction party workers were spotted rooting for their leaders. INDIA bloc supporters vehemently opposed Prime Minister Narendra Modi securing another term in office and highlighted issues like inflation, unemployment, communal rites and the threat to changing of constitution if BJP comes into power for the third time.

Lok Sabha election 2024: Nomination filing near Bandra Collectorate leads to jam

Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha Election 2024, the filing of nominations at the Mumbai Suburban District Collectorate in Bandra East led to a substantial traffic jam in the area on Thursday morning. Bhushan Patil, Congress candidate for the Mumbai North constituency, and Amol Kirtikar, the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency, submitted their nominations for the general elections. Mira Road Violence: Security heightened, police personnel on alert at Mira Road

After a clash was reported from Mumbai's Mira Road, bulldozers razed illegal structures and encroachments in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road on Tuesday. "Illegal structures and encroachments were razed by bulldozers in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road where Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha celebrations were stone pelted. After instructions from the Maharashtra government, action is being taken by the Municipal Corporation with the help of the police," the Maharashtra government said. Meanwhile, three persons were arrested in Mumbai and an FIR was filed against unknown individuals after at least four cases of outraging religious sentiments were filed in the city following the Mira Road Violence.

Manoj Jarange ends hunger strike with a glass of juice from CM Shinde

Maratha Reservation Rally: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil on Saturday in Navi Mumbai's Vashi where he and thousands of protestors were camping seeking reservations for the community. Jarange, who had begun his fast on Friday, was fed a glass of juice by CM Shinde as a mark of him ending his hunger strike. Jarange had stopped at the outskirts of Mumbai on Friday and presented new demands. The government engaged in talks with him late last night. Both CM Shinde and Jarange paid homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue at the campsite before the latter ended his fast. The excitement among the protestors was palpable who cheered on Jarange and CM Shinde for agreeing to their demands, stated reports. The protestors dubbed it as a historic moment.

UBT leader Sanjay Raut slams Maha CM Shinde's remarks over Uddhav Thackeray

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said Eknath Shinde "himself is Hamas", as he countered the Maharashtra chief minister's comment about Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction being capable of joining hands with "Hamas and Lashkar-e-Taiba for their own selfishness". Taking a dig at Shinde and his aide Bharatiya Janata Party, Raut said, "He (Eknath Shinde) is himself Hamas... This shows how many dirty worms the BJP has planted in your mind." CM Shinde at the Dussehra rallt in Mumbai's Azad Maidan said, "You back-stabbed Bal Thackeray by committing dishonesty with his ideological legacy. I won't be surprised if they ally with terrorist groups like Hamas and Lashkar-e-Taiba for their own selfish motives." Thackeray and Shinde, leaders of the split factions of the Shiv Sena, organized separate Dussehra rallies this year in Mumbai for the first time in the history of the party.

Mumbai sizzles as monsoon withdraws

As the southwest monsoon bids adieu to Mumbai and its adjoining areas, the mercury level is expected to climb, ushering in a summer-like feeling. Meteorologists and weather experts anticipate not only increased temperatures owing to the monsoon withdrawal but also a gradual decline in air quality during this transition. According to the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city and suburbs will witness intense heat next week. According to IMD’s weekly weather forecast, the maximum temperature is likely to rise up to 32 degrees Celsius from October 9 to 13. After that, there will be some decrease in temperature. The maximum temperatures recorded at the Santacruz and Colaba observatories were 35.9 and 33 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, relative humidity at both weather stations was 71 per cent and 81 per cent, respectively.
