Pune district NCP workers flag factionalism at meeting with Pawar

Nationalist Congress Party workers on Thursday spoke up about factionalism at the local level in a meeting with party chief Sharad Pawar here. Pradip Garatkar, NCP`s district president, said the meeting of key party functionaries from each tehsil was held to take a review ahead of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections. A party functionary from the Velha unit told reporters that he told Pawar that the NCP can win Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections on its own if factionalism was overcome. (PTI)

Mumbai sees seven COVID-19 cases, no death; active tally 25 as nine recover

Mumbai on Thursday reported seven COVID-19 cases, which took the tally here to 11,55,142, while the death toll stood unchanged at 19,746, a civic official said. It is a rise from the three cases reported on Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added. The recovery count increased by nine and reached 11,35,371, leaving the state with an active caseload of 25, he said. As per BMC data, the recovery rate is 98.3 per cent and the caseload doubling time is 1,94,947 days. (PTI)

Opposition MVA targets UP CM over roadshow, warns against `snatching` Maha industries

Maharashtra`s Opposition alliance on Thursday trained guns on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over his visit to Mumbai to attract investment in his state, saying there will be objection if he "snatches away" industries from the western state. The CM on Thursday held a roadshow in the city, inviting industrialists and entrepreneurs to visit the northern state during the three-day `UP Global Investor Summit` to be held in Lucknow from February 10-12. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is travelling to eight states to promote the summit, covering big cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai, among others. (PTI)
