Mumbai news live updates: Addition of rake to fleet takes monorail services on weekdays to 142 from 118
The number of monorail services on the Chembur-Wadala-Jacob Circle route in Mumbai will go up by 24 to touch 142 during weekdays after a rake was added to the fleet, the MMRDA said on Thursday. In a series of social media messages, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority said this increase means a service will begin every 15 minutes against the the current 18 minutes on weekdays on the 19.74 kilometre corridor.

A special court for CBI cases here on Thursday separated the trial of two accused in the Rs 13,500 crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam, noting that it was not known how long the extradition process of diamond merchant Nirav Modi, a prime accused, would take. Gokulnath Shetty, a retired PNB officer, and Hemant Bhatt, an authorised signatory of Modi`s companies, are in judicial custody since 2018 and their bail pleas have been rejected, the court said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases against ten persons including Central Railway officials for alleged bribery in the handling of parcels at the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) here. Some of the accused served as chief parcel supervisors, chief yard master and deputy station manager (yard) during the relevant period, the central agency said in a release on Thursday. No arrest has been made, it said.
