The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Friday said that parts of the city will receive 50 per cent water supply on August 12 (Saturday).
Diva, Mumbra (except ward No. 26 and 31), Kalwa, Rupadevi Pada in Wagle Ward Samiti, Kisan Nagar no. 2, Nehru Nagar, Kolshet Khalcha village under Manpada Ward Committee, will receive 50 per cent water supply on Saturday from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, said the civic body.

"Inlet screens, channels and pump strainers of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation's wastewater pumping station on the Ulhas River have affected the pumping capacity due to large amounts of debris from the river. On Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm, there will be about 50 per cent less water supply during this period. During this period, the waste stuck in the pumping station will be removed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation," the TMC said.
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) supplies water to some areas under the Thane Municipal Corporation which include Mumbra, Diva, Kalwa, Majiwada, Manpada and Wagle Estate, the civic body said.
The civic body has asked residents in the city to store water and use it judiciously. Amid monsoon, the TMC has also asked residents to filter and boil the water before drinking it.
Meanwhile, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on Thursday announced that it will beautify 15 lakes in the city.
According to TMC, the lake beautification project will cost an estimated Rs 53.36 crore and it will be implemented under the Centre's Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)-II scheme.
"The lakes that will be beautified are Turkepada, Kharigaon, Hariyali, Shivajinagar-Kalwa, Kausa, Kolshet, Dativali, Desai, Bramhala, Ambe-Ghosale, Kachrali, Rayladevi, Kamal, Kidkali and Jogila. While 25 per cent of the project cost will be borne by the Centre and state government each, the remaining 50 per cent be taken care of by TMC," Thane Municipal Abhijit Bangar said. AMRUT scheme focuses on financial sustainability, ease of living of citizens and water sector reforms.
IIT Bombay will conduct a third-party audit of the beautification work done on these lakes in Thane.
"The conservation and beautification work of the lakes will be audited through a third-party organisation. The third-party audit will be done by IIT Bombay," Bangar said.
"There should be no compromise in the quality of the materials used for this work. The concerned departmental authorities should periodically inspect all these ponds to ensure that they are of the best quality," he added.
The civic commissioner also directed TMC officials to complete the project by June 2024.
