Heightened vigilance in Mumbai

The railway police in Mumbai carried out a search operation on local trains on Wednesday afternoon.
The searches were conducted in the light of approaching Lok Sabha Elections 2024 across India.
The polls in Maharashtra will be conducted in five phases beginning April 19 and will culminate on May 20.
Due to the elections being around the corner, the police patrolling and checking has increased across Mumbai as well.
Passenger checks along the Mumbai Central to Churchgate route were conducted by a team of railway police on Wednesday.
The team was led by sub inspector and they patrolled, checked bags of the passengers in the local trains.
