IAF`s transport aircraft Chinook carrying 41 workers took off from Chinyalisaur Hospital on Nov 29. The workers have been shifted from Chinyalisaur Hospital to AIIMS Rishikesh for further treatment carrying 41 rescued workers, IAF`s transport aircraft Chinook reached AIIMS Rishikesh. Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: Visuals of the rescue of the 41 trapped workers

In a major victory in the Uttarkashi tunnel rescue operation, the NDRF on Nov 28 rescued all trapped workers from the Silkyara tunnel. The NDRF personnel entered the Silkyara tunnel to rescue the workers on the 17th day of the tunnel collapse. The rescuers entered the tunnel by completing 45-meter pipe drilling to evacuate the workers. The rescued workers were shifted to hospitals for further treatment in 30 ambulances which were on standby at the incident site. The ambulances were fully equipped to provide enhanced medical assistance to patients during transportation. Hours after the safe evacuation of 41 trapped workers from the Silkyara tunnel on November 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the rescued men over the phone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with the 41 men who were evacuated safely from the collapsed portion of the under-construction Silkyara tunnel. The rescue operations continued for 16 days and on November 28, the trapped workers were safely evacuated.  Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi had called Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and gave his best wishes for the safe evacuation of 41 workers from the Silkyara tunnel. During this, PM Modi took information from the Chief Minister about the workers. Uttarkashi Tunnel Collapse: Experts say only 5 metres left to reach the workers

Multi-agencies rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing to rescue the 41 trapped workers. 41 workers have been trapped inside the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi since November 12 after the Uttarkashi Tunnel collapse. Leaving no stone unturned to evacuate the workers, manual drilling began after auger drilling machine was busted. While updating on the rescue operations, Mirco Tunnelling expert Chris Cooper on Nov 28 stated that only 5-6 meters are left.  So far, only 2 meters of manual drilling has been completed and workers pulled out debris from the rescue pipe. Silkyara tunnel collapsed following a landslide on Nov 12, leaving 41 workers trapped inside the tunnel. Fifteen days have passed but 41 workers remain trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi. Government organisations from different sectors have stepped up to evacuate the trapped men safely. From NDRF to DRDO, rescue teams are putting all the efforts to evacuate the stranded workers as soon as possible. On November 26, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami met with the family members of the trapped worker. He also informed about the current situation and the progress of the rescue operations. On November 25, the blades of the auger machine being used for rescue operations were damaged. The machine was damaged while trying to make a hole in the tunnel to pave a path for the escape of rescue workers. A micro tunnelling expert, Chris Cooper has also been roped in to assist in the rescue mission. On Nov 25, NDMA Member Lt General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.) said that it is a situation “exactly like war”. Also protection umbrella was being laid inside the tunnel for the protection of the rescue teams. Amid the ongoing India-Canada row, Canada pulled out its 41 diplomats and their 42 dependents on Oct 19. Canada took the decision after India threatened to strip diplomatic immunities from the envoys in New Delhi.
