Gold worth Rs 97L seized

Mumbai airport customs recently seized a kilogram of gold valued at Rs 97 lakhs across five different cases.

Concealed gold

The persons involved had concealed the gold in various items like their clothing, inner lining of their suitcases.

Of 5 accused, one was foreigner

Of the five accused persons, one was a foreign national and others were Indian nationals who had come from another country.

Further probe on

Seized gold, along with the detainees, have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation

Penalty for accused

Asst Commissioner of Customs Sarika Shah said the accused persons are remanded to custody if value of gold is Rs 1 crore or above.
