Israel is set for an extension of mandatory service for soldiers - men and women - who serve in combat units to three years and the length of service of reservists will be doubled to "become a central formation in the army's security tasks and not just a routine auxiliary force'. The age of exemption for reserve military duty will rise from 40 to 45, and for officers from 45 to 50. The IDF said this will "preserve knowledge and experience."
Terrorist fires at Israeli soldiers
On Thursday, a terrorist fired at IDF soldiers guarding the area at the entrance to the village of Deir Sharaf near the city of Nablus. The terrorist was "neutralised," meaning he was stopped, but at this time there has been no confirmation as to his medical condition.

Blinken says toll on Gaza people âtoo high'
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken says the toll from Israel's military offensive on Gaza's civilians remains "too high". He made the comments Wednesday as he was in the region seeking to broker a cease-fire that would pause the fighting. He said the Israeli offensive, is "justified", but also expressed concern.
