Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hopes PoK will merge with India, citing developments in Jammu and Kashmir as catalysts for such a change.

Singh reaffirmed India's unwavering claim over PoK, asserting that it has been, is, and will remain an integral part of India, echoing the sentiment of many Indians regarding the region's rightful status.

The Defence Minister highlighted the significant improvement in the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasising economic growth and the return of peace as factors that could influence the desire for integration among PoK residents.

Singh expressed confidence that the people of PoK will eventually express their desire to join India, negating the need for any forceful measures, as they witness the benefits of being part of a rapidly developing and peaceful region.

While discussing the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh suggested that the time may come when the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) will no longer be necessary in the Union Territory.

The Defence Minister urged Pakistan to halt cross-border terrorism and destabilisation efforts, emphasising India's resolve to combat terrorism and maintain peace along the border.

Singh acknowledged the strained relations between India and Pakistan and said India's commited to normalising bilateral ties but emphasised the need for Pakistan to address terrorism and hostility.

India remains vigilant in addressing terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, adopting a proactive approach to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, said Singh in his interview with PTI.
