Officials reported a voter turnout of 37.54 per cent by 11 AM during the repolling conducted at 11 polling stations in Manipur's Inner Lok Sabha constituency.

The Election Commission's decision to conduct repolling stemmed from incidents of riot-like situations and disruptions observed during the initial voting held on April 19, necessitating a fresh electoral exercise to ensure fairness and integrity.

Despite the tumultuous circumstances during the initial polling, voters demonstrated enthusiasm by queuing up since early morning to cast their votes at the affected polling stations, reflecting their commitment to exercising their democratic rights.

Election officials confirmed the smooth commencement of repolling at 7 AM, with no reports of disturbances or violence recorded as voters peacefully participated in the electoral process, contributing to the democratic exercise.

Moirangkampu Sajeb, Thongam Leikai, Bamon Kampu, Irilbung, Khongman Zone V, Iroishemba, and Khaidem Makha are among the constituencies up for reelection, which spanning the following: districts Khurai, Kshetrigao, Thongju, Uripok, and Konthoujam.

Instances of firing, intimidation, and destruction of EVMs during the initial polling underscored the challenges faced during conduction of elections in conflict-hit Manipur.

According to reports, on April 19, one civilian was hurt after the firing, and conflicts were recorded at a polling station in Moirangkampu Sajeb Awang Leikai, Imphal.

On April 26, there will be a second phase of voting for the remaining 13 Outer Manipur segments, stated reports.
