Prime Minister Narendra Modi will file nomination papers for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on May 14, following a roadshow in his parliamentary constituency on May 13. Prior to the roadshow, Prime Minister Modi would pay respect to the Madan Mohan Malviya statue at the main entrance of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Lanka.

The roadshow will extend to the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and is expected to draw thousands of party workers. PM Modi's agenda for the roadshow includes garlanding the Malviya statue in Lanka before visiting Assi, Sonarpura, Jangam Bari, Godaulia, and Bansphatak, reported ANI.

According to the ANI report, PM Modi will receive a grand welcome during the roadshow, with workers being assigned responsibilities to ensure its success. Meetings have been organized for all assembly constituencies in the Varanasi parliamentary constituency, followed by meetings with workers in all 21 divisions.

Varanasi is a stronghold for Prime Minister Modi, who won the seat in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. For the third time, the Congress has nominated Uttar Pradesh Congress head Ajay Rai to run against Prime Minister Modi in Varanasi. In the 2019 elections, PM Modi easily won the seat, the report further added.

According to the report, in 2014, PM Modi ran for two Lok Sabha seats, including Varanasi. The Varanasi seat consists of five Assembly parts, with voting planned for June 1 and counting on June 4.
