Kale would travel on a crowded morning train from Borivli to Churchgate. Taking advantage of the crowded ladies' compartment, she would place her bag next to a laptop bag on the rack. When the train passed Marine Lines station, Kale would take both bags and move towards the opposite side, then get off the train at the next station amidst the crowd.

Upon reaching Churchgate railway station, the victim discovered her laptop bag missing and promptly informed the Churchgate railway police, filing an FIR. During the investigation, police checked CCTV footage of the station and identified a suspicious woman carrying a similar bag. After scanning all cameras in the area, they traced the accused to Cuffe Parade. In a subsequent investigation, police recovered another laptop and some cash stolen from the victim. Kale admitted to the police that she took advantage of the crowded conditions to commit the thefts.
