A pathology lab owner was arrested by the Shivaji Nagar police, on Friday, for allegedly giving a false negative report to a 71-year-old COVID-19 positive man.
According to Hindustan Times, senior inspector Kishor Gayke, Shivaji Nagar police station said that Khan would collect swabs of people with symptoms and generate false reports without even examining the samples.
Gayke said the police have found out that Khan has duped at least seven to eight patients in the similar way for monetory benefits. He would collect samples and charge the patient accordingly. He would then send it to a different lab in Navi Mumbai but generate false report.

However, this incident came to light when the senior citizen went to Khan to get his test done and his report came negative. Suspecting foul play, he went to another lab where his report came positive.
The accused, Abdul Khan is in police custody till March 9 and investigation is underway, said Gayke.
