MAMA Awards 2023: BTS to Enhyphen, top winners and attendees on Day 1

MAMA Awards 2023 kicked off at Japan’s Tokyo Dome on November 28. It is one of the biggest music awards for Asian artists. Day 1 of the ceremony took place tonight. This year's ceremony is being held over the course of two nights. Only one Daesang (Grand Prize) was awarded on Day 1 - the Worldwide Icon of the Year, which went to BTS for the sixth year in a row. All 10 of this year’s Worldwide Fans’ Choice (Bonsang) awards were also handed out. Here are the top winners and attendees from Day 1.

MAMA awards 2023 winners

Global stars BTS won the grand prize - the Worldwide Icon of the Year award - for the 6th time in a row at MAMA

The Favorite New Artist award was won by the ban Riize.

MAMA 2023 was attended by several K-drama stars, including actress Joo Hyun-young. She gained recognition for her appearances in the comedy-variety show SNL Korea in 2021 and the television series Extraordinary Attorney Woo in 2022

South Korean singer and actor Hwang Min-hyun, known as Minhyun, attended the awards with his My Lovely Liar co-star Kim So Hyun

Yoshiki, 58, one of the most influential musicians and composers in Japanese history, was also at the event

Singer and actor Lee Junho, who recently won hearts with the K-drama King The Land, was also at the event as a presenter

K-pop band Tomorrow X Together was one of the winners of the Worldwide Fans' Choice award. 

The Worldwide Fans' Choice & Favorite New Artist award was won by Zerobaseone at MAMA 2023

The Favorite Asian Female Group award went to the girl band kep1er

K-pop stars Enhyphen were also among the 10 winners of the Worldwide Fans' Choice award at MAMA 2023

The Favorite Asian Male Group award was won by the boyband INI
