Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi was recently sentenced to two years' imprisonment by a Jamnagar court in an old cheque-bouncing case. While that sparked concerns about the fate of his next, Lahore 1947, the director was granted anticipatory bail soon after, with the court issuing a 30-day stay on the order. We hear that the shoot of the period drama, which stars Sunny Deol and is backed by Aamir Khan, went on smoothly on Monday in Mumbai.

The movie, which reunites Santoshi and Deol after 28 years, rolled on February 12. Had the shoot been put on hold at this stage, it would have thrown the schedule into disarray. A source reveals, "It is a long schedule and the actors' combination dates have been secured. Plus, keeping the scenes' requirements in mind, the unit has arranged for many character actors and extras. In such a scenario, losing even a day would have been quite a setback. Though everyone was expecting disruption of a day or two, Santoshi reported on the Malvani set on Monday, and it was work as usual for the 300-strong unit." Santoshi's legal counsel has reportedly said that they will appeal against the sentence at a higher forum. mid-day texted Santoshi, who didn't respond till press time.
