While one would think that Bollywood celebs aren't that great of a cook, we have a list of exceptions. From making their recipes go viral in no time to balancing a hectic schedule and yet putting up a lavish spread to feast upon, here's a look at celebs who can whip up a storm.

Jackie Shroff

First up, it's Bollywood's very own Bhidu, Jackie Shroff. The actor's signature talking style which has shades of Mumbai tapori language has for long charmed the audience but in recent times, his food recipes have won hearts on social media. Be it ‘anda kadi patta', ‘Bhopla' or ‘Bhindi', Jaggu Dada and his recipes are a rage on social media with many netizens also asking how his son Tiger Shroff manages to give up the temptation of such lip-smacking food. What makes these recipes interesting is that they are simple to follow and are mostly one-pot recipes that can be pulled off with minimum effort.

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt developed a culinary knack over the years. During the lockdown, she made a grain-free paleo banana bread and chocolate cake. Last year, she also raised for an animal welfare organization via baking. As part of a campaign, fans were asked to donate a minimum amount of Rs.300 or multiples thereof and at the end of the campaign period, one fan would be randomly selected to bake a cake with the star under the guidance of Indian Pastry Chef Pooja Dhingra.

Diljit Dosanjh

‘Chamkila' actor Diljit Dosanjh has also donned the chef's hat multiple times. He used Instagram to share moments of himself cooking and channeling his inner cook. He once showed a step-by-step guide on how to make "Nutri keema matar".

Shilpa Shetty Kundra

Shilpa Shetty Kundra launched her YouTube channel to share her culinary skills when she took a break from acting. In an interview with The Free Press Journal, she said, "I was the first actor to start my own YouTube channel. Back then, a lot of people made fun of me and told me why I needed to be there? It is a place for non-famous people who become popular, but my motive was different. I wanted to show that if I can cook healthy and nutritious food, then people can too. Also, healthy food is always perceived as not being tasty, so I wanted to change this perspective."

Tara Sutaria

Tara Sutaria began her career as a singer in Disney India's ‘Big Bada Boom', and later transitioned to acting with the sitcoms ‘The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir' and ‘Oye Jassie'. She made her film debut in 2019 with ‘Student of the Year 2'. While she is a multi-talented star, her cooking skills are worth noting. For instance, she prepared an entire feast for Christmas last year. Her menu comprised of turkey with horseradish, cranberry and gravy, pies and a maple fig salad, crispy roast potatoes, honey glazed ham, a gorgeous gratin, salmon wreaths and olive and ementhal sticks, rum soaked mince pies, a chocolate log, and pecan pie!

Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, who worked as a chef in Bangkok loves to cook for his wife Twinkle Khanna. He told Hindustan Times, "I have a great time cooking and eating Thai green chicken curry. My wife loves it when I make her Italian pasta the ‘Kumar' way. I do not stick to rules when cooking. I rely on my imagination."

Farah Khan

Filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan who recently made her debut on YouTube treated her fans with the special yakhni pulao recipe she often prepares. Her recipe states - add oil to a pressure cooker, temper with cumin, slit green chilies, and chopped onions. Later add ginger-garlic paste followed by chicken. After allowing it to simmer for a while, add garam masala, and salt, mix, and let it sit until two whistles. After cooling the pressure cooker, add uncooked rice and close it for another four whistles.

Shah Rukh Khan

The King of Bollywood is nothing less than a chef. He once told Hindustan Times, "I really love cooking. I've never had the time to do it. My father and mother used to cook. I've started learning how to cook Italian food. I can make pasta, risotto and tiramisu. I think I'll look very sexy in just an apron. Of course, most of the guests will run away if I'm only wearing an apron (laughs), but I want to serve people."

On David Letterman's Netflix special, Shah Rukh said, "I spend a lot of time with them (kids). They always want food at 2 or 3 in the morning. So I am learning Italian food. So whenever that nine number of the kitchen goes, I say ‘Yeah! What do you want? You want some pasta? And I quickly go and...'"

Ajay Devgn

During one of the episodes of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs Kajol revealed that Ajay Devgn is a good cook and even makes ‘amazing khichdi' for her. She said, "As unbelievable as it may seem, Ajay loves cooking. We often say that some people have taste in their hands, Ajay is one of those cooks you know, who prepare any dish and it turns out to be delicious. Cooking is something Ajay enjoys very much, and he shuts the door of the kitchen when he is cooking. Even when he is cooking, he doesn't share his recipes or what he is preparing. He often cooks amazing khichdi for me and that is his specialty."
